Why I want to return to county Government

  • After being elected County Auditor in 2016, I never dreamed of leaving this position. I poured countless amounts of time and energy into this position. My desire to represent the interests of Sioux County in more arenas led me to get involved in leadership with the Iowa State Association of County Auditors (ISACA). As a result of my participation in ISACA, opportunities arose to contribute in a number of committees. This involvement helped gain new knowledge which was used to benefit Sioux County.

  • In some respects, I pushed too hard and too fast, leading to being burned out. But my love for county government continued as I assisted the appointed County Auditor for nine months following my resignation, to ensure a smooth transition.

  • Having gained new perspective by stepping away, I am refreshed and ready to come back and serve Sioux County again. I absolutely love to serve people and I want to spend the rest of my career as County Auditor in this great county. I have learned valuable lessons about the balance I need between work and life to avoid burnout, so that I will not repeat that again.
